| Mission Summary |
For
over twenty years The New England Wildlife Center, a nonprofit
organization, has been working to protect, preserve and treat
injured and sick wildlife. The Center runs one of only two
professional wildlife hospitals in New England. Each year,
the Center treats approximately 4,000 wild animals including
about 225 different species. For example the center treats
geese poisoned by lawn chemicals, coyotes and foxes hit by
cars and hundreds of orphaned and injured baby birds.
The Center will accept any wild animal, from a common crow
to the endangered Leach's Storm Petrel. Wildlife that are
successfully treated are returned to the wild, helping to
preserve both the species and its natural habitat. The purpose
of the corporation is to promote positive values, behaviors
and policies toward wildlife and the environment through operation
of our wildlife hospital, education, humane research and public
health and habitat intervention. |
